Bathing safely at home in Park Hills
Park Hills (ZIP 41011) is a hillside Northern Kentucky city beside Devou Park, known for its early-1900s homes on steep, tree-lined streets above Covington.
Houses built into this hillside are tall rather than wide, and the bathroom is often several floors from a water heater in the lowest level. That run holds cooled water that has to be drawn off before hot arrives, and with a walk-in tub you are sitting inside waiting for it. A recirculation loop fitted while the walls are open removes that entirely, and it costs a fraction of what it would as a standalone retrofit.

Common questions from Park Hills homeowners
Mostly the length of pipe between the heater and the tub, and you can time it yourself by running the tub faucet until it turns hot. Check the heater size too, because a walk-in tub can draw much more hot water in one fill than a standard tub.
A recirculation loop solves it, and fitting one while the walls are open costs a fraction of a standalone retrofit.
