Aging in place in New Miami
New Miami (ZIP 45011) is a small village on the Great Miami River just north of Hamilton, an old mill community with closely spaced older homes.
In these compact houses the bathroom sits directly over the kitchen more often than not, and a walk-in tub concentrates both risks: a large volume of water and a door seal that is a wear part. That is why the whole floor gets a bonded membrane rather than a waterproofed corner, and why we choose tubs whose seal is a serviceable, available part. Over a kitchen ceiling, neither is where to save money.

Answers to your New Miami questions
A bonded membrane across the whole floor rather than a waterproofed corner, and a tub whose door seal is a serviceable, available part. Over a kitchen, neither is where to economize.
We open it and check the joists and subfloor before quoting, particularly important here, since the new tub weighs more when full.
