Aging in place in Lockland
Lockland (ZIP 45215) is a historic village in the Mill Creek valley north of the city, built up around mills and industry, with closely spaced older worker housing.
The bathroom in a worker cottage has typically been redone twice, each covering laid over the last. That matters more here than for a standard tub: a walk-in has to sit dead level on a solid, known substrate, and layers of vinyl over hardboard over original boards are neither. Taking the floor back to structure is the right start, and it lets us see what is carrying the room before several hundred pounds of filled tub goes on it.

Questions about walk-in tubs in Lockland
Yes, down to the subfloor. In houses of this age the older layers sometimes include asbestos-containing vinyl tile or adhesive, so if you suspect it, a lab test on a small sample before demolition settles how removal has to be handled.
Because the door seal is engineered to close against a square frame. A tub set on an uneven floor puts the door out of true, which is where seal problems start.
