A shower built for how you live in Sedamsville
Sedamsville (ZIP 45204) sits on the west-side hillside above River Road between Riverside and Sayler Park, with much of its housing climbing the slope and dating to the late 1800s and early 1900s.
The bathrooms in these houses are usually upstairs, reached by a narrow original staircase with a turn in it, and the tub you want replaced is very likely cast iron, weighing several hundred pounds. Getting it out is a genuine planning question rather than an afterthought, and where the stair will not take it whole, the tub is cut down in place and removed in sections. We establish which on the site visit, because that decision belongs in the price rather than in a conversation on the morning of the install.

Answers to your Sedamsville questions
Usually by cutting it down in place and removing it in pieces, which is safer for the tub, the stair and the plaster than trying to carry it whole. We look at the stair on the site visit and price the method we will actually use.
They should, and protecting them is part of the work rather than an extra. In a house of this age the original trim and plaster around a stair are worth more than the time it takes to shield them properly.
