From dreadful tub to a walk-in shower built for you in Mount Airy
Mount Airy (ZIP 45239) is a northwest-side neighborhood beside Mount Airy Forest, one of the largest city parks in the country, with mid-century single-family homes on hilly, wooded streets.
The hilly terrain produced a lot of split-level houses here, and a split-level puts the bathroom on a half-story with a shallow floor void and no straightforward run down to the main stack. Moving a drain from tub position to shower position in that void is a tighter problem than in a conventional two-story, and occasionally it decides where the shower can go. We look at the void depth and the stack route before drawing a layout rather than after.

Answers to your Mount Airy questions
It can. The floor void on a half-story is shallow and the run to the stack is less direct, which limits how far a drain can move. We check that before designing rather than promising a layout we cannot build.
A linear drain or an offset waste often reaches where a conventional center drain cannot. Where nothing works, we tell you before you have paid for a design.
