What a walk-in shower takes in Hartwell
Hartwell (ZIP 45215) is a historic north-side neighborhood that grew as a streetcar suburb, known for its Victorian and early-1900s homes on tree-lined streets.
Owners of these houses often try the compromise first: a shower riser and a hoop curtain over the original clawfoot. It looks charming and it leaks: the curtain clings, the water finds the gap between curtain and tub rim, and the floor around a freestanding tub was never waterproofed. If you want a real shower, it wants a real enclosure. Where the room is big enough, the honest answer is to keep the clawfoot for baths and build the shower properly alongside it.

Answers to your Hartwell questions
You can, but it tends to leak: the curtain clings inward and water escapes at the rim, onto a floor never built to be wet. We would rather tell you that than fit one and be called back.
Where the room allows, keep the clawfoot for baths and build a proper enclosed shower alongside. Where it does not, converting the tub position into a correctly waterproofed shower is the sound option.
