From dreadful tub to a walk-in shower built for you in Evanston
Evanston (ZIP 45207) is an east-side neighborhood next to Xavier University, with streets of early-1900s homes and apartment buildings, some now student housing.
A fixed showerhead is set at one height for a household of people who are not one height, and in a house where a single bathroom serves everyone that is a daily irritation nobody thinks to mention. A hand shower on a slide bar solves it for a small part of the budget, and it makes cleaning the enclosure and washing a child or a dog dramatically easier. Where the room allows it we will usually specify both a fixed head and a hand shower on a diverter.

Common questions from Evanston homeowners
Both, where the budget and the valve allow. A fixed head for everyday use and a hand shower on a slide bar for everyone who is not the height the fixed head was set for, plus cleaning, children and pets.
It needs a diverter, which is decided at the valve stage rather than added later. It is one of the reasons we settle the fittings before the wall closes up.
