Before you replace a tub in Pendleton
Pendleton (ZIP 45202) is a small, historic arts district tucked against the eastern edge of Over-the-Rhine, full of restored 19th-century Italianate buildings and converted lofts and condominiums.
Loft conversions here sit on heavy timber beams that were specified for warehouse loading, which sounds reassuring, but the decking between them, and any alterations made during conversion, are a different question. A filled tub is a concentrated live load in one corner of a room. We look at what is actually under the bathroom before setting a cast-iron tub on it, and where the answer is uncertain a lighter acrylic unit removes the question entirely.
