Before you replace a tub in Ludlow
Ludlow (ZIP 41016) is a historic Northern Kentucky river town with a walkable Elm Street business district and streets of well-preserved Victorian and early-1900s homes.
A surprising number of bathrooms here still have their original hexagonal or mosaic floor hidden under later coverings, and where it survives intact it is worth more than anything we would put down in its place. Fitting a new tub while retaining it is possible: the tub is set to the existing floor, the apron detailed to meet it, and the join made deliberate rather than apologetic. We lift a corner on the site visit before assuming the floor comes up.

Answers to your Ludlow questions
Quite possibly. Look at the edge under the door threshold or around a floor register, where older layers sometimes show, and tell us what you see. If tile turns up, expect a few loose or cracked pieces to need resetting rather than assuming it all comes up perfect.
Yes, with the tub set to the existing level and the apron detailed to meet it. It takes more care than replacing everything, and it is usually worth it.
