One good tub, one good shower, in Covedale
Covedale (ZIP 45238) is a settled west-side community on the edge of the city near Green Township, with neighborhoods of early-1900s through mid-century single-family homes.
A tub moves. It flexes slightly when it fills and when someone steps in, and that tiny movement is why the joint where it meets the wall is the first thing to fail in almost every installation. Done properly the tub is filled with water before that joint is sealed, so the silicone cures at the tub’s loaded position rather than its empty one. It is a small discipline that most installers skip and it roughly doubles how long the seal lasts.

Questions about tub shower combos in Covedale
Usually because it was sealed with the tub empty. A tub flexes when it fills, so a joint cured in the empty position tears the first time it is used. We fill the tub before sealing.
A properly detailed joint should last years rather than months. Where it is failing annually, the cause is the installation rather than the sealant.
