Before you open the walls in Covington
Covington (ZIP 41011) is the largest city in Kenton County, with a 19th-century core of brick rowhouses and townhouses across several distinct historic neighborhoods.
Solid masonry construction changes the mechanics of the job: there is no stud cavity to run cables or ducts through, so services get chased, surface-run behind cabinetry or routed through floors, each with its own cost and finish. Kentucky’s building code and permitting apply rather than Ohio’s. And in a historic neighborhood, anything touching the exterior, including where an exhaust fan terminates, is worth establishing with the city before design.

What Covington homeowners ask us
Chased into the masonry, surface-run behind cabinetry, or through the floor. Which suits is a design decision, because each has a different cost and appearance.
Where it penetrates the exterior in a historic neighborhood it can. We establish what applies with the city before the design is finalized.
