Modern kitchens in older Columbia-Tusculum homes
Columbia-Tusculum (ZIP 45226) is Cincinnati’s oldest settled neighborhood, known for the painted Victorian houses on its hillside and older ground than anywhere else in the city.
In houses of this age, and particularly on ground that has moved over a century and a half, floors slope and walls run out of square in ways that matter once you install cabinetry. Runs have to be scribed, countertops templated in place rather than cut to a drawing, and appliance openings checked against reality rather than a nominal dimension. It is entirely manageable, and it is why measuring properly takes longer here than a survey of a newer house.
